Art Basel Miami Beach 2026 takes over the Miami Beach Convention Center from Friday, December 4 to Sunday, December 6, with invitation-only VIP preview days on Wednesday, December 2 and Thursday, December 3. It is the anchor of Miami Art Week, when galleries from around the world, a string of satellite fairs and hundreds of parties fill South Beach, Wynwood and downtown Miami.
If you want to see the main fair, buy a timed day ticket online in advance and plan to spend at least half a day inside. If you mostly want the atmosphere, you can see a lot for free.
When is Art Basel Miami Beach 2026?
The public days are December 4-6, 2026. VIP and press preview days come first, on December 2 and 3, and are open only to card holders and invited guests. In recent years the halls have opened to the public from 11am to 6pm, so expect similar hours, but confirm the 2026 schedule on the Art Basel site before you go.
The wider Art Week starts earlier. Several satellite fairs hold their own previews on Monday, November 30 and Tuesday, December 1, so the busiest stretch for traffic and hotel rates is roughly November 30 to December 6.
How much are Art Basel Miami Beach tickets?
Art Basel had not published 2026 prices when we checked in October 2026. As a guide, 2025 tickets ran from $68 for a reduced single day up to $160 for a weekend pass. Tickets are sold for a specific day and entry time, and quantities are limited, so the Saturday slots tend to go first.
- Buy online: in past editions, tickets bought at the door cost $5 more.
- Children 2 and under get in free; under-16s must be with a ticketed adult.
- Your ticket lets you leave and re-enter the halls on the same day.
- Premium passes, which add access to preview days and lounges, are sold separately.
Which Miami Art Week fairs run in 2026?
At least five big satellite fairs have confirmed December 2026 dates, spread between Miami Beach and the mainland. Most charge their own admission, and several are within a short ride of each other, so pick two or three rather than trying to see everything.
| Fair | 2026 dates | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Art Basel Miami Beach | Dec 4-6 (VIP Dec 2-3) | Miami Beach Convention Center |
| Design Miami | Dec 1-6 | Miami Beach |
| Untitled Art | Dec 2-6 (VIP Dec 1) | On the sand at Ocean Dr and 12th St, Miami Beach |
| NADA Miami | Dec 1-5 | Ice Palace Studios, downtown Miami |
| Art Miami (with CONTEXT) | VIP Dec 1, public through Dec 6 | One Herald Plaza, downtown Miami |
Smaller fairs such as Scope, Aqua Art Miami and others usually appear too, often in Miami Beach hotels or tents, but check each fair's own site for 2026 dates. The combined calendar at miamiartweek.org is the easiest way to see everything in one list.
Getting there and beating Art Week traffic
Expect the causeways between Miami and Miami Beach to be slow all week, especially from late afternoon into the evening. Staying on the side where you will spend most of your time saves more hours than any shortcut.
- Walk or bike if you are staying in South Beach or Mid-Beach. The Convention Center sits between 17th and 19th Streets, a short walk from Lincoln Road.
- Use the free Miami Beach trolley for hops within the beach; it is slow in traffic but costs nothing.
- Rideshare works, but surge pricing is common at closing time. Agree a pickup spot a block or two away from the halls.
- Parking: city garages near the Convention Center fill early on fair days. If you drive, arrive before opening.
For crossing between Wynwood, downtown and the beach, leave yourself 30-60 minutes in peak hours even though the distance is short.
Where to stay for Art Basel
Book as early as you can: rates across Miami Beach climb sharply for Art Week, and many hotels set minimum stays. The most convenient base is the north end of South Beach and Mid-Beach, around Collins Park and Lincoln Road, where you can walk to the Convention Center, Untitled and the beach-side parties.
Browse our South Beach hotels and look for addresses between about 15th and 23rd Streets. If your plans lean toward NADA, Art Miami and the gallery openings in Wynwood, a hotel in downtown Miami or Brickell keeps you off the causeways.
Free things to do during Miami Art Week
You do not need a fair ticket to enjoy Art Week. Plenty of the best moments are outdoors or in galleries that charge nothing.
- Art Basel's public sector: in recent editions, large outdoor sculptures have been installed in Collins Park, next to the Bass museum, free to wander.
- ICA Miami in the Design District is always free (advance timed tickets are recommended), open Wednesday to Sunday.
- Wynwood and the Design District: street murals, gallery openings and brand activations, many free to walk into. Our Wynwood guide covers the area.
- Beach-side installations: brands and collectors often stage free pop-ups along Collins Avenue and Ocean Drive in South Beach.
Many parties are RSVP-only rather than paid, so follow galleries and fairs on social media in the weeks before. For everything else on in December, see our Miami in December guide.
